On excavating our truth.

Hi Friends,

Thanks for being here. For newbie's, you are so welcomed! And for the OG's, thanks for growing with me as I continue to experiment, share and open the door to different ideas rolling around in my inner universe.

The new vibe of these e-newsletters feels a bit "substacky", but I have no intention of moving you over there. Things will evolve as they always do, but for now, I'm playing with what nourishing you might look like amid waves of newness to share.

While I traverse an in-between season of my home life, I’ve found myself living a somewhat nomadic existence. Although I can't say that I am fully embracing it, I am discovering hidden gems of delight along the way. One of my clients recently called these "golden threads from the universe," revealing themselves in this transition, pointing to me being exactly where I am meant to be.

This morning, I arrived at a new space where I will rest for the next month. I’m fortunate enough to be stewarding an exquisite garden and my beloved chickens, who have been in the care of friends since we had to leave our home in late June. My morning ritual has moved from beachside to garden side, and today, as I look across the garden's vista, I find myself reflecting on patterns, sequences, and rhythms.

One pattern that never ceases to amaze me is the collective energy that forms with each new intake of mentees. Even though they never meet each other, a collective theme always rises to the surface.

We are one month into Quiet Rebellion, and although each participant comes with an individual intention, there is a powerful thread that ties all 14 souls together. This season, they are committed to the excavation and revelation of their truth. No longer settling for constructed ideals and armed with a sense of courage, they are learning to be truth-tellers of their own stories. They each bring a desire to share their truths through their unique genius, in a way that the world can grow from. I could not be more proud, honoured, and excited for the ride!

Uncovering this pattern made me reflect on why many people spend their whole lives masking or avoiding their truth.

Leaning in and meeting our inner parts that push, pull, and polarize with an honest gaze often means a decay of some kind is destined to follow. It might look like empires crumbling, relationships dissolving, rejection from people we care about, and the loss of long-carried dreams that no longer have a place when our truth points to something new, something deeper, something more real.

The fear of these potential ruptures keeps us in a pattern of “stuckness,” never fully owning our truth or choosing to reimagine a life that offers something different.

As I took a deep inhale and looked out across the garden, breathing in the fresh, earthen air, my mind was drawn to the earth - there is wisdom in the soil.

Soil is a home of both decay and fertility. It's a place where death feeds new life, where nature sheds her skins to be composted into nourishment for new growth. In the soil, hard things can soften and break down, and with the right conditions, it becomes a resting place for transformation.

What can we learn from the wisdom of the soil to help us cultivate trust in unraveling and shaping our truth?

What exists in the natural world also exists within us. Our inner soil, our bodies, and more specifically, our nervous system, hold the keys to uncovering, holding, and expressing our truth.

For me, Vedic meditation was the catalyst for much of my nervous system healing. I've also engaged with many somatic healing modalities and tools that have helped me stitch together the parts of me fractured from past trauma.

Learning to soften and decode my nervous system resulted in de-icing the frozen and stuck parts of me. Over time, I have cultivated a bedrock of safety to express the most vibrant, creative, and honest parts of my mind and heart.

Tending to our nervous system not only reconnects us with our body's intelligence, but it also allows us to open ourselves to other people, the land we walk upon, and the “hum of the universe” - the subtle vibrational rhythm of existence that moves through all of life (there will be more on the power of vibration, mantra's and shifting our consciousness in future musings)

There is a quote that comes to mind: “When imagination returns, we are back in our body” - Tess Guinery.

Through the lens of a dysregulated, stressed nervous system, we fear any change or growth. Through the lens of a regulated nervous system, creativity springs to life, and change becomes the currency of a life well lived.

One of the new opening rituals I invite my mentees to partake in is to feel into what element in nature they might feel called toward to support them at this juncture in their evolution. The fluidity of water, the grounded stability of earth, the raging heat of fire, or the dynamic presence of air. Together, we craft a ritual for them to rest upon and return to as a supportive resource throughout our time together.

Today, I wanted to share a simple somatic grounding practice (earth) to help you open up to the lines of communication that are infinitely occurring in and around your field and help you open a space to excavate your own truth while also resourcing your internal soil.

When we intentionally take the time to ground ourselves, it’s like we are plugging back into nature. We begin to tune into the places in our body that are calling for our attention. We start to attune from the level of the mind to the levels of the body, spirit, and Country.

A reciprocal grounding practice.

Take off your shoes and place your feet onto the earth.

Close your eyes and start to take some slow, deep breaths as you place your attention on the space where your feet are touching the earth.

Imagine yourself grounding into a state of surrender.

Imagine yourself grounding into a state of receptivity.

Imagine yourself opening to a mode of communication with the ecosystem around you.

Start to do a slow body scan from the top of your head to your toes, stopping periodically to check in and ask your body what it needs.

Allow room to attune to any feelings and sensations that arise, meeting them like you would a small child who comes to you with a pain or hurt.

You might like to ask your body what it needs in order for you to grow.

You might like to tune into the deeper parts of yourself and ask your inner essence what it needs for you to grow.

You might then tune into the environment around you and the soil beneath you and ask what it might need to grow.

This is a reciprocal process of grounding.

With love,
